来自柏林的Modern Talking(摩登淘金)成立于1983年，团员包括作曲兼制作人Dieter Bohlen以及当时堪称“少女杀手”的俊美主唱Thomas Anders。在短短的两三年间，他们陆续以“You`re My Heart,You`re My Soul”、“You Can Win If You Want”、“Cheri Cheri Lady”、“Brother Louie”等畅销曲风靡全球，成为80年代中期欧陆舞曲乐坛的唯一代名词。但由于两人之间的不合愈演愈烈，于1987年发表第五张专辑后分道扬镳，Bohlen另组了Blue System，而Andres则是全力发展个人事业。
事隔10年，两人在1998年又出乎意料地宣布前嫌尽释，推出了重组后的首张混音精选大碟《Back For Good》（言归于好），而在1999年于2000年也相继发表《Alone》、《2000:Year Of The Dragon》等创作大碟。
